    Sally Armstrong

    Keen Runner & Fitness Instructor

Sally has been expertly leading the warm-up at the Bracknell Samaritans Run for the last 5 years & will do so again this year.

Sally is a keen runner and a fitness instructor, teaching classes including Spin, Step, HIIT and Body Conditioning at Sportspark Reading. She has completed the London Marathon, several Reading Half Marathons and countless other halves, 10k’s and endurance runs.

Sally’s reason for supporting the Samaritans is very personal:

“Five years ago I was approached by Samaritans to run their race warm up. I jumped at the chance as not only would I be running, Samaritans is an organisation close to my heart. My mother and my grandfather have both volunteered with Samaritans and I have seen first-hand, through family and work, the huge difference this organisation makes to the lives of many people.

Exercise and mental health are words that should always be found in the same sentence. The power of endorphins released when we exercise is nothing short of incredible. The running community is one of the most accepting communities I have had the pleasure of joining and if you are ever short of someone to chat to a trip to your local parkrun will solve it.”

Thanks for your continued support Sally! We can’t wait to welcome you back for the race warm-up on the 27th June! You can follow Sally’s page Group fitness with Sal here.

    Vikki Roberts-Caiger

Personal Trainer, Zumba Instructor & Avid Runner

Vikki is an avid runner and a staunch supporter of the Bracknell Samaritans Run. She has kindly organised FREE and very popular training runs for all Bracknell Samaritans Run participants for the last few years and will be doing so again this year!

“I started running in my mid-twenties and since then, have taken part in events ranging from 5k to marathons and ultras, dipping my toes into the world of duathlons, triathlons, sportives and endurance events in the UK and abroad! We are lucky to have so many great running clubs and races in the local area but one I take part in time and again is the Samaritans Run. Not only is it for a great cause, with profits staying with the local branch of the charity, but even though the location and route has changed over the years it remains a wonderful family-friendly and inclusive event that's great value.”

Thanks for your continued support Vikki! We can’t wait to take part in your training runs & welcome you back on the 27th June! Find out more about Vikki on her website or follow her Facebook page Vikki Roberts PT here. More info on the FREE training runs to follow.

  • Simon Bennison

    Personal Trainer & Running Coach

Simon Bennison is a local Personal Trainer & Running Coach. Simon has been supporting the Bracknell Samaritans Run for years, first as participant then as Run Ambassador. Simon finished 1st in the Bracknell Samaritans 5k in 2014! Simon offers training plans & helps organise our fabulous pacers.

Simon has been in the fitness industry for over 12 years. He used to specialise in strength and body building but made a transition into running in 2012 and since then has run and competed in over 30 half marathons, 2 full marathons and too many shorter distance races to mention!

“The Samaritans run is sentimental to me as its the first race I finished 1st in a few years back so it's great to be on board promoting the race! I also love local races and I am a big fan of the Binfield 10k and Bracknell half marathon too.”

We are delighted to have such a fantastic sportsman as one of our ambassadors and are very grateful for Simon’s continued support! Find out more about how Simon could support your running by following his Facebook page Bennison Fitness here.

Fundraising for Bracknell Samaritans

The annual Bracknell Samaritans Run is the biggest fundraiser for our local Samaritans branch, based in Bracknell. If every entrant for the 5k or 10k run could fundraise £25, we could raise enough money to keep our local Samaritans branch operating for over 6 months! Could you help raise an additional £25?

All your need-to-know information for our 5k & 10k runs!

Follow our real life big teddy Sam and run, jog or toddle around our 1k course!

All your important General Information for a successful race day!

Regretfully we have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Bracknell Samaritans Run due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly as it will have a significant impact on our fund-raising once again but as I am sure you will appreciate it is very difficult to plan anything with any certainty in the current climate whilst maintaining the necessary levels of health & safety for all those involved.

We will be in touch with everyone who has already entered over the next few days to discuss the options available. Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support of our charity.

We hope to see you at our 40th event on Saturday 25th June 2022. Please save the date!!

In the meantime, we hope you all keep well and stay safe.

Jackie Holland
Race Director
